What hidden metadata do GIF files contain?
GIF files can contain comment blocks, application extensions, XMP packets, creation data, software identifiers, and privacy fields embedded in XMP. The certified path reports exactly what it detected and fails closed on unverified residuals.
Can animated GIFs contain tracking metadata?
Animated GIFs can contain creator-tool, timestamp, XMP, comment, or proprietary application data. The current path removes only supported non-essential metadata structures and verifies that required animation structures remain valid.
How does binary-level GIF metadata removal work?
We parse GIF files at the binary level, identifying extension blocks (0x21FE for comments, 0x21FF for applications). We then reconstruct a clean GIF keeping essential image data and animation frames while removing supported non-essential metadata extensions.
Will removing metadata break my animated GIF?
The current path preserves required animation-control and looping structures and validates the reconstructed GIF. If structural validity or residual verification cannot be established, it does not release a verified-clean result.
